CapSU welcomes Indonesian SEA Teacher Project Delegates

12 Indonesian teacher-student delegates of the SEA Teacher Project or Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia received warm welcome from Capiz State University (CapSU) in a ceremonial welcome and opening program held at CapSU-Main Dadivas Gym on September 12, 2023.


The ceremonial welcome formally introduced the 12 participants from 4 Indonesian universities, 4 from Universitas Muhammadiyah Kotabumi, 2 from Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, 3 from Universitas Muhammadiyah Porwokerto, and 2 from Sriwijaya University, who will be hosted by 3 CAPSU Campuses and 6 CAPSU Satellite Colleges.


The program kicked-off with an Indigenous People Welcome Dance performed by Panay Bukidnon elders and CapSU Tapaz Satellite College IP students, followed by the red carpet entrance of guests, key officials, and SEA Teacher participants lead by the Capiz Provincial Vice Governor- Honorable James Magbanua, CAPSU President- Dr. Editha Alfon, and Schools Division Superintendent of Capiz- Dr. Miguel Mac D. Aposin.


"This program [SEA Teacher Exchange Project] provides opportunities to integrate class of knowledge and theory with practical application on skill development in professional community sectors," Dr. Mary Ann D. Martelino, CapSU Vice-President for External Affairs and Linkages, expressed in her opening remarks.


Dr. Alfon then proceeded to give her welcome remarks, followed by messages from Capiz Provincial Gov. Hon. Fredenil H. Castro, Roxas City Mayor, Hon. Ronnie T. Dadivas, and Dr. Miguel Mac D. Aposin.


The SEA-Teacher Student Exchange Program Welcome and Opening Program ended with a closing remarks from Dr. Susan O. Dangan, CapSU Vice-President for Academic Affairs where she highlighted the importance of the program in building a new relationship CapSU and the participating delegates.


SEA Teacher Project or Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia is a program orchestrated by Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) which aims to provide opportunities for pre-service student teachers from Southeast Asia to gain teaching experiences (practicum) in schools in other Southeast Asian countries.


The 12 Indonesian delegates will be staying at Capiz for one month and will later be deployed at cooperating DepEd schools from the province of Capiz.
