In a significant step toward strengthening student governance, leaders from Capiz State University–Main Campus completed a three-day Leadership Training from August 1 to 3 at Villa Consorcia, Pontevedra, culminating in the formal induction of officers for Academic Year 2025–2026.
Participants included officers from the Supreme Student Council (SSC), Future Leaders of the Philippines (FLP), and various student organization presidents.
The event aimed to deepen their understanding of effective leadership and enhance their ability to serve as dynamic student representatives for Academic Year 2025–2026.
The first day featured a series of leadership talks, where Dr. Ellen Mae Besa, SOA Coordinator, kicked off the session by sharing insights on the purpose, power, and process of leadership.
She was followed by Kristine Joy S. Bartocillo, RGC, who highlighted the importance of leading with the right approach. The day wrapped up with Atty. Toche Vic Doce giving a practical and hands-on session on drafting effective activity proposals.
On the second day, participants engaged in a series of team-building activities, where they applied what they learned during the leadership talks while strengthening trust, collaboration, and camaraderie among fellow leaders.
The highlight of the event came on the final day with the formal induction of newly elected student leaders, led by Dr. Cleo Jude Joaquin, Main Campus Focal Person.
Prior to the ceremony, Dr. Mark Anthony Durana delivered an inspirational message that called on students to embrace their leadership roles with confidence and clarity of purpose.
Following the induction, outgoing FLP President Pauli Niño Deondo and SSC President Jerrold Dela Torre expressed their gratitude in farewell messages. Incoming FLP President Christian Ventura and SSC President Camille Anne Dicon then delivered their acceptance speeches.
"We’re not born leaders—we learn to be one. And before we show up for others, we have to show up for ourselves first. Leadership starts with building you", said Dicon, SSC President, during her acceptance speech.
The training not only empowered students with essential leadership skills but also fostered a renewed sense of unity and commitment among the university’s emerging leaders. By Jumel Quintro
