By Rodgen A. Diaz

Faculty and student from Capiz State University (CapSU) – Roxas City Main Campus and Burias Campus bagged awards during the 33rd National Conference of the Council of Management Educators and Professionals in the Philippines (COMEPP) held at Newtown Plaza Hotel, Baguio City last November 16-18, 2023.

Among various universities across the country that participated in the said national conference, Dr. Rowena D. Dela Cruz from CapSU-Roxas and Prof. Salve M. Ferrer from CapSU-Burias in their research paper entitled “Management Capability and Financial Performance of Sustainable Livelihood Program in Jamindan,” garnered the Best Research Paper Award under the professional category of 1st Research Competition.

Moreover, Gerald Finlac, a 22-year-old 4th-year student from CapSU-Burias taking up Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) major in Financial Management, finished 2nd runner-up in the Business Impromptu Speech Competition.

“It was a long preparation since I won 2nd Runner-Up during the Regional COMEPP Convention. I read and read. I indulge myself in a lot of readings about the current issues in the Philippines and business-related concerns. I felt like dreaming when my name was called as second runner-up. I am so thrilled and showered with excitement. It was a roller-coaster emotion,” Finlac expressed.

With a theme, “Charting the Path: Embracing Recalibrations in Business and Management for Praxis in a Dynamic World,” COMEPP aims to create a platform for learning, networking, and collaboration in the field of management education and practice.
