Capiz became a center of culture and creativity as the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) staged its nationwide multi-arts festival, Pasinaya 2026: Paglikha sa Kinabukasan, to the province on February 7–8.
Local schools and cultural groups, including the Filamer Christian University Silak Dance Company, Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion Sarayawan Dance Company, FCU Chorale, and Tanque National High School Rondalla, performed traditional and contemporary pieces reflecting Capiznon heritage.
Governor Fredenil H. Castro welcomed participants and expressed gratitude to CCP for selecting the province as one of its regional venues, highlighting the event as an opportunity to promote Filipino creativity and identity.
Workshops on dance, film, and other arts offered participants hands-on learning experiences, while a tyangge displayed Capiz-made products, handicrafts, and souvenirs, giving local artisans a platform to present their work.
A film workshop screened two critically-acclaimed local Capiz productions, Bisan, Abo, Wala Bilin and Si Oddie, among four films shown, providing students insights into filmmaking as a medium for cultural expression and storytelling.
Outreach performances extended the festival to communities across Capiz, bringing art directly to schools and neighborhoods.
The closing program at Dadivas Gymnasium of Capiz State University gathered participants for the final presentations on February 8.
Dr. Efren Linan, university president, said, “Today, we gather not to conclude a program but to recognize what we have built together over the past days. This has been a space where Capiznon talent was seen and heard, where stories were brought to life, and where our traditions were remembered.”
The festival highlighted Capiznon artistry in dance, music, and film, reflecting the province’s creative potential under the theme “Paglikha sa Kinabukasan.”
