In celebration of the 105th Foundation Anniversary of Capiz State University (CapSU) - Main Campus, the Supreme Student Council (SSC) spearheaded a prestigious event, the search for Mr. & Ms. Campus Stellar 2022 held at the Dadivas Gymnasium, last September 23, 2022.
The aforesaid activity allowed freshmen college students to represent their respective departments, namely; College of Education, College of Management, College of Engineering, and Bachelor of Industrial Technology – to showcase what they got and it was an avenue for them to shine as they step into their college years.
Devine Grace A. Acurantes, the pride of CoEd department, shine as the brightest star the whole night of the aforesaid competition among all 7 other lovely candidates as she was crowned as Ms. Campus Stellar 2022. Ms. Acurantes bagged 2 minor awards; best in ASEAN Costume and Best in Interview. John Rave Z. Isiderio, a mechanical engineering student obtained a special award as Mr.Clicks Photography sponsored by Clicks Photography and he was crowned as Mr. Campus Stellar 2022.
During the ASEAN costume show presentation, Acurantes showcased a Traditional Thai wear called Pha biang, it is a shawl-like garment, or breast cloth. It is also known as a long piece of silk, about a foot wide, draped diagonally around the chest by covering one shoulder which its end drops behind the back. The headdress on the other hand is called Mongkut in Thai. It features a distinctive tall, pointed shape, which was probably acquired from the Lomphok, a pointed cloth headdress of Persian origin, during the Ayutthaya period, alongside an oversized temple printed Wat Hong Rattanaram pulled by a roller device.
During the preliminary interview, Acurantes and Isiderio were given the chance to choose a number from 1-20 by host Mx. Anthony Lopez and they answered it with confidence. Both were alluring and glistening in the pageant's final rounds, sparkling like a star in the middle of the stage, and their hearts were burning to win the crown, which is why judges and spectators were drawn in.
“I feel overwhelmed and extremely happy this whole campus stellar journey made me realize that our failures in the past have a genuine purpose and that is to redirect us to the path that we truly deserve. Campus stellar was the platform for me to overcome fears, and doubt and also to inspire my fellow youth. That no matter how painful our past can be, we should always hold our heads high because failures are his way of telling us that we deserve so much better. May the crown that I won, will give everyone faith, hope, and courage to strive and define the odds of life.” Acurantes expressed.
“A terrifying spike of excitement stuns me when they tapped me to be one of the representatives of CEAT. For me joining in this new horizon of endeavor is out of my league although I am a fan of pageantry during my high school, I never expect to get the attention of many people in college. Being crowned as Mr. Campus stellar 2022, is a mixed of emotions, I am so much happy, surprised, and thankful at the same time.” Zacarias added.
