To train and mold the volunteers to inspire, extend help to students, strengthen their knowledge and skills in implementing numeracy, literacy, and other skill enhancement training, and be committed to the BaSa: Bata Aton Sakdagon Program, Capiz State University (CapSU) - Main Campus' College of Education (CoEd), hosted extension and community involvement services last April 20, 2023 at the University's Conference Room.

Headed by the CapSU CoEd Extension Services, the one-day Capability Building Seminar to the Implementers of Literacy, Numeracy and Skill Enhancement Activities were participated by the 4th year pre-service students of College of Education from three DepEd schools in Roxas City namely; Milibili National High School, Inzo Arnaldo Village Integrated School, and Dumolog National High School.

The event started with the warm welcoming remarks of Engr. Gema B. Angelias, Extension Chairperson, and Hazel D. Joaquin, CoEd Dean, which was then followed by the rationale of Prof. Anazel V. Palomar, Extension Coordinator.

The guest speakers who also served as lecturers were Dr. Eimee D. Potato, OSA Chairperson, and Prof. Vicmar B. Solano, Faculty Member, in which they discussed the Nature of the Extension and Community Involvement Program.

Succeeding the lectures, a reflective activity by Prof. Solano was prepared to build a strong relationship, motivate the volunteers to work together, develop their strengths, and address their weaknesses, followed by the awarding of certificates.

After the awarding of certificates, a commitment ceremony headed by Prof. Solano was put into succession through a lighting ceremony, the highlight of the event which symbolized the knowledge they hoard to light the learners’ lives and ask for blessings, protection, and confidence.

“I am beyond grateful to have experienced this kind of stuff. Not everyone can have the same opportunity as I do. It’s exciting and overwhelming at the same time. We got a chance to know more about the teaching profession and how our professors love their students as much as they love their careers in the field of education,” said Ms. Maureen Vargas Abella, one of the volunteers of the said event.

At the end of the aforementioned program, the volunteers were given the chance to highlight and apply the phrase "depart to serve" in their quest towards implementing literacy, numeracy and skills enhancement activities.
