SEA Teacher-Student Program: CapSU orchestrates Closing and Testimonial Ceremony

By Aldreana Sereneo and Rodgen Diaz

“To the 12 SEA Teachers who came all the way to this humble university, we are thankful for you. We hope that through your short stay at our university, your association with the Filipino teachers and students at the different schools, and your adventure to the different places here in Capiz and the other neighboring provinces have instilled in you our culture. My dear students from Indonesia, we wish you good luck in your academic and personal endeavors. And we hope to be remembered as part of your success.”

This was the message of Dr. Mary Ann B. Martelino, Vice President for External Affairs and Linkages, in her opening remarks during the Closing and Testimonial Program for the 9th Batch of the SEA Teacher-Student Exchange Program conducted by Capiz State University (CapSU) at CapSU-Dayao Covered Gym on Thursday, October 5.

“Unfortunately, the time has come to bid farewell to our 12 adopted Indonesian students. This is the end of your stay with us, but we will forever cherish each of you as a lasting memory in our hearts. To our 12 exchange students, you are not just our guests in our university and homes but a part of the CapSU family. Your presence added color to the lives of your buddies, mentors, and cooperating teachers. Your life stories enrich our perspective. Carry with you the warmth, hospitality, and kindness of Filipinos through your CapSU family,” Dr. Editha C. Alfon, CapSU President, expressed in her welcome message.

The said program was intended to celebrate the successful internship and the 26-day pre-service teaching of the 12 Indonesian delegates coming from four universities in Indonesia.

“We learned a lot of things inside the CapSU, such as how to be a good student, how to respect time, how to be responsible, respect differences, respect other people’s decisions, and many more. We are very thankful to CapSU for providing us with a place to learn many things, especially about the main campus and the Dayao campus family. We will carry all the lessons and memories until the end. We are now in the closing ceremony, and it feels like just yesterday. You all showed us the love—the first love we met in Roxas City,” said the students from the Universitas Muhammadiyah Kotabomi in their testimony.

The 12 Indonesian delegates are Ovalia Nastika MN, Astrina Nurul Haq, Aulia Ihza Cahya, and Ahmad Sapta Seno Permadi from the Universitas Muhammadiyah Kotabumi; Annisa Nur Ramadhani and Rania Khairunnisak of the Universitas Ahmad Dahlan; Muhammad Farhan Algifariz, Larasati Ika Budi, and Nur Baeti Legah Wahidah of the Universitas Muhammadiyah Porwokerto; and Nur Salwa Nisrina, Panisyah Nasyro Janna Erpapalemlah, and Devin Akbar Albany from the Sriwijaya University.

On this day, October 6, the Indonesian delegates will leave for Indonesia.
