Capiz State University (CapSU) Main Campus participated in the One Billion Rising Dance campaign with the theme "Rise for Freedom" aimed at ending violence against women, held at the Dadivas Gymnasium, February 19, 2025.

The event was organized by the Gender and Development Office in collaboration with various student organizations from the College of Education (CoEd), College of Engineering and Architecture (CEAT), College of Management (CM), and Bachelor of Industrial Technology (BIT). It emphasized the power of solidarity among women in demanding justice and equality.

Dr. Cleo Jude A. Joaquin, the Focal Person - CapSU Main, opened the event with his compelling remarks, "I am welcoming you in this One Billion Rising Dance, together let us dance with determination, compassion and unity through this we can help empowered and adds up to more than One Billion Women and Girls." he said.

Dr. Rowena Chritina B. Dela Cruz, Focal  Person - CM, also added her message as she emphasized the essence of participating the One Billion Rising Dance Campaign Activity.

The students then participated in the One Billion Rising campaign dance titled “Isang Bilyong Babae ang Babangon" showed as a commitment to an ending violence against women.

Concluding the event, Dr. Analene D. Roxas expressed appreciation for all students, faculty and staff who participated in the event.

The campaign, launched on February 14, 2012, began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that one in three women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. One Billion Rising Campaign is the biggest mass action to end violence against women (cisgender, transgender, and those who hold fluid identities that are subject to gender-based violence) in human history.
