One Billion Rising (OBR), the biggest mass action to end violence against women in human history, made its presence felt at the Capiz State University (CapSU) – Main Campus premises with this year’s theme “Rise for Freedom”, February 22.

In connection with the aforesaid campaign, CapSU – Main Campus held a symposium which gave focus on various topics such as the Anti-Sexual Harassment (RA 7877), Anti-Rape Law (RA 8353), Anti-Bullying Act (RA 10627) and Safe Spaces Act or Bawal Bastos Law (RA 11313).

The first part of the symposium was spearheaded by Atty. Felizardo T. Demayuga Jr. in which he gave his own insights and reminders with regard to Anti-Sexual Harassment (RA 7877) and Anti-Rape Law (RA 8353).

On the latter part of his speech, Atty. Demayuga Jr. stressed the importance of conducting such symposiums to make the women and the public become more aware and informed with their rights and safety.

Succeeding on the afternoon event, Mrs. Anna Marie M. Albaladejo, resource speaker, tackled the significance of Anti-Bullying Act (RA 10627) and Safe Spaces Act or Bawal Bastos Law (RA 11313).

In general, OBR is pushing the worldwide community to utilize every resource, both online and offline, to demand an end of violence against women (cisgender, transgender, and those who hold fluid identities that are subject to gender-based violence) and to draw attention to the widespread unfairness and impunity that the survivors often experience.
