PIA JTS 2024 concluded, multiple college journalists awarded

Capiz State University (CapSU) - Main Campus celebrates its achievements as several of its student publication journalists were awarded during the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Journ Talk Series 2024 Campus Journalism Webinar Series, this Sunday, October 20, 2024.


Held under the theme "Campus Journalism in the Bagong Pilipinas Era," the event took place from September 25 to 27, through a Zoom meeting. The webinar was attended by various student publications across Western Visayas.


Among the awardees from The Quest publication were:


Aaron Carl Barcelo, recognized as the Promising English Photojournalist;

Aira Nicole Delostrico, recognized as the Most Promising Filipino Editorial Writer;

Angela Lozada, recognized as the Promising English Editorial Writer;

Jumel Quinto, recognized as the Promising Filipino Sports Writer.


Additionally, from The Ledger publication, Ma. Cristina Olmedo received the Promising English Feature Writer award. Dr. Mary Vincentia Beldia, the adviser of Pundar publication at the same university, received a special citation for her contributions to feature writing.


The event, organized by the PIA, is part of a broader initiative to empower campus journalism, promoting responsible journalism and the ethical use of media in the Philippines. Through this series, the PIA continues to play a pivotal role in educating and inspiring the next generation of journalists by highlighting the importance of truthful information sharing.


This recognition reflects the dedication of both students and advisers in their pursuit of journalistic excellence, continuing the tradition of upholding truth and integrity in journalism under the Bagong Pilipinas Era.
